Lugol’s iodine is used in cattle as an oral supplement or topical application to address iodine deficiencies, typically for managing anestrus (failure to cycle) in dairy cows and boosting reproductive performance.
7ml of Lugol’s Iodine is painted or sprayed onto the thin skin of the flank fold once per week for 5 weeks prior to breeding or calving.
1ml/cow/day can be added to the water trough.
Lactating Cows: To prevent excessive iodine in milk, do not exceed 12mg daily (approx. 0.1ml of Lugol’s)
